-3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6 Near to Banbridge Town, in the County Down 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 5 -4 One morning last July, -3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6 Down a boreen green came a sweet colleen, 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5 And she smiled as she passed me by; -3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6 Well, she looked so sweet from her two bare feet 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 5 -4 To the sheen of her nut-brown hair -3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6 Such a coaxing elf, sure I shook myself 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5 To make sure I was really there. -6 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6 -6 -6 From Bantry Bay up to Derry Quay, 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 5 -4 And from Galway to Dublin town, -3 -4 5 5 5 -4 5 6 6 -6 No maid I've seen like the sweet colleen 6 -6 -7 -6 6 5 -4 5 That I met in the County Down.
Note: I’ve arranged Star of the County Down here in 5th position (Em on a C harp). Another option would be to play it in 3rd position (Dm on a C harp). For that version, we’d start on 3-draw, with a whole step bend. See if you can finish it yourself!
Here’s some tab to get you started:
-3″ 4 -4 -4 -4
And to give you all your options, here’s the rest of the 3rd position minor pentatonic scale:
-4 -5 6 -6 7 -8
